Prevent Yourself From Getting Sick When Travelling

Travelling is supposed to be the time for you to relax and have fun. However, it is possible for you to get sick as well because your body might have a little bit more difficulty to adjust and adapt to the new environment. There are also other factors that can make you fall sick during travel such as lack of sleep, eat random foods, etc. However, you can avoid getting sick by paying attention more to your own well-being.

How to not get sick when travelling

Getting sick while travelling can be a horrible experience especially when you travel without companion. It is strongly suggested that you take necessary vaccination before visiting a country for vacation even if it is for short trip. Talk to your doctor prior the trip so you get informed of what kind of vaccinations you need to take to prevent from any illness or diseases. Here are tips for you to avoid getting sick while travelling.

Be cautious of the tap water

Tap water can be your enemy when you are in different countries. You don’t know what kind of bacteria contained in the water. Your own belly biome may have been familiar with bacteria in your own tap water in your place but it’s different when the tap water is in different place. Thus, avoid drinking from tap water when travelling. Also, don’t eat foods (like fruits) that you washed in tap water. Be careful when you are going to eat fresh or raw foods such as onions or lettuces.

Don’t let your body suffer from dehydration

Letting your body suffer from dehydration is terrible thing you do when travelling. When your body is dehydrated, its immune system becomes weaker and more vulnerable to virus, bacteria, germs, etc. Thus, always remember to drink plenty of water even during a flight when you don’t seem to do much activities. It is highly recommended that you bring your own bottled water.

Practice good hygiene during travel

Carry your own hand-sanitizer just in case your destination doesn’t have that many washrooms to wash your hands properly. Washing your hand before and after eating for at least 30 seconds to make sure all nasty things are removed thoroughly. When you are in public transportation, don’t touch your face after using your hand to hold onto the seat or hand-holder. The germs you get to your hands will be transferred to your faces and they will get inside your body.

Bring your own medicine

The medicine in your travel destination might not be compatible with your body. Thus, pack your medication from home at least for common sickness such as cold, cough, or flu. If you get sick, do not rely solely on your immune system to get better. Go see a doctor when you are sick during your trip so you know exactly how to deal with it. It is also important to have enough sleep and limit your intake of street foods or junks foods when travel. Also, wear sun protection because heat and ultraviolet can also put your health at risk during travel.
