Both are at the different islands either the Labuan Bajo or the Komodo Island. I mean it when I included the Labuan Bajo as one of the place you have to explore. it is because of your travel to Komodo Island mostly will be as a travel package. You can’t really go to Komodo Island by yourself, except you want to use your own boat.
If you are coming to visit the Komodo Island, Labuan Bajo will be your last flight stop. There’s nothing you can do to continue your journey to Komodo Island but by boat. The hotel or an accommodation you will be reserved for your stay is also possible at Labuan Bajo, except you are reserving the Komodo Island Liveaboard package where you can enjoy the leisure travel on board.
While you are in Labuan Bajo before travel to Komodo Island, If you’ve got some times, you’d better start exploring the city and its surround. But worry not since I’ll tell you what you can do at there right after your flight landed and found an accommodation.
Labuan Bajo is the heaven for the seafood lovers, even there is the fish market for that called as Pasar Baru. All the fishes mostly are the fresh ones, so you should be enjoy the fresh food as well. Ask the sellers to cook the fish you like in any possible ways they could, then you will only wait for minutes and ready to enjoy the seafood.
For some travelers who wait one or two days before their travel schedule to Komodo Island, Labuan bajo can also be the perfect place for chasing the sunset. You can find the spot for that easily and will see the sun sets on the west with the sea, islands and fisherman boats as the main scenery before your eyes.

2. Hiking and taking great pictures on the hill of Padar Island
Among many of the wild islands around Komodo Island, Padar Island is also a must visited one. The view of the island from the top looks unique and you may will be amazed by it. Hiking to the peak of the hill can only takes you from 20 minutes to around 1 hour, this is not as serious as hiking the mountain.
You can still have fun while occasionally look to the seascape below with amazing island view.
Padar Island is one of the best you can visit during your travel to Komodo Island because of its scenery. The island shaped as if it is branching out, makes it the perfect place to create the great landscape images or use it as the best background for your photographs.
3. What actually you can do at Komodo Island?
Skip the thing like meet with the dragons as said before, you can also do that at Padar Island and others. So, what you will get if you travel to Komodo Island?
For some people, sailing can be so interesting and feels adventurous. First thing you will do is leave the Labuan Bajo city and sail with the boat of travel agent you have chosen. You can directly go to Komodo Island, but sometimes it can be hard because the tour agent have got their own schedule. You may have to stop at the Padar Island first or else. Still, you will get there.
If you have reach the Komodo Island, make sure that your snorkeling and diving tools are prepared. You can start diving before see the dragons or otherwise. There are some of the popular dive sites there that even known by the world.
You will also do trekking at Komodo Island for sometimes, so you’d better use the useful shoes, socks, and also wearing the shirt to absorb the sweat. Mostly, those you will be done in Komodo Island. Never ever think that the activities will be bored, they can take hours and you won’t realize about that.
You can also have fun at Pink Beach right before or after diving.
4. Diving at Manta Point
Diving can’t be for everyone, but if you are planning for it, make sure that the travel agent you have reserved to accompany your travel around Komodo Island is also included with the dive session at Manta Point.
Manta Point is located at very small island called as Pulau Makassar. The beach over there is also the pink beach as at the Komodo Island. I think that there’s not many of the dive sites in Indonesia like this where there will be one spot to just see one sea animal. Surely that you will also see the other fishes and species, but it has been so popular for its Manta rays.
5. Gili Lawa Darat
“The island close to the land.” That’s the translation for this island name. The island scenery from the summit of the hill is also the best one. Many have came here to just taking for their pre-wedding photographs.
Trekking will also the thing you have to do to see the whole island view.
The island is also where almost all water sports are welcomed. Be it the kayaking, stand up paddle, etc. The island is pretty much closer to the ocean so if you are in luck, you will see the sharks or the whales.
