  • Ayam Taliwang is of course in the first place when it comes to Lombok’s signature cuisine. This is a spicy grilled chicken originally comes from Karang Taliwang Village in Lombok. It is made of chicken half cooked on the grill then removed and dipped in marinade of cooking oil and spicy sauce. The sauce itself is made of garlic, chili, and shrimp paste. It is then grilled again once the marinade sets. It is usually served with Plecing, Lombok salad made of boiled spinach or morning glory with tomato sauce and Sambal Beberuk. It is not a complete mission if you travel to Lombok without trying this authentic dish.
  • Babalung is next recommended local dish when you visit Lombok. It is usually served during celebration or parties. However, you can also order this dish in traditional dines or even five-star hotel in Lombok. It is dish with ribs as main star. This is soup based dish made of cow or goat ribs originally. The ribs are usually traditionally seasoned with various spices and herbs to make it taste and smell heavenly delicious. It is usually served with plain rice, a slice of lemon, and chops of chili pepper.
  • Satay Rembiga is Lombok’s version of skewer. Satay means skewer in Indonesian which has been one of the most iconic foods. Every region in Indonesia has different version of Satay. Lombok’s version is Satay Rembiga, which is made of seasoned grilled meat and served with rice. The taste is spicy and sweet. This dish originally comes from Rembiga Village in Selaparang, Lombok.
  • Ayam Balap Puyuh is Lombok’s authentic cuisine with chicken as the main star. It is originated from Puyung Village. This dish is a combination of rice, fried chicken, spicy shredded chicken, vegetables, fried soya bean, as well as fried seasoned grated coconut and chili paste. This is served on a banana leaf most of the times.
