Sometimes, you forget that what you eat can affect your comfort during a flight later. Some foods can make you experience major inconvenience when boarding. Thus, make sure to also pay attention to what you eat before boarding. You don’t want to experience stomachache, nausea, or other health issues during a flight, especially for a such a long-haul one.

It can make you feel like you can eat anything to be prepared for the flight or skip your meals entirely, thinking that foods will be given later on a plane. However, remember to avoid eating these foods and drinks before boarding for smooth travel:

Beans

Beans are good for health obviously. Protein and all nutrients inside can help improving your health. However, eating beans before boarding can cause major inconvenience instead. Beans are one of the major culprit for gas producing. Many type of beans contain indigestible complex sugar leading to onboard bloating. Thus, limit your intake of beans before boarding if you don’t want to feel bloated due to the gas. 

Spicy food

Spicy foods are not very recommended to take before boarding. They can cause you to bloat because of the gas being produced. Not to mention that eating too much spicy foods may result in upset stomach as well. Thus, it is avoid to limit the intake of spicy foods especially before taking a flight. 

Caffeine

It is also recommended to avoid or limit the intake of caffeinated drinks before the flight. They can make you dehydrated. Carbonated beverages are also to avoid before boarding. Soda and beers are not good for flying. They are one of major contributors to bloating. The tiny bubble on these drinks will be transferred into your stomach, making you feel bloated throughout the flight later. When the air pressure changes, the bloat will keep expanding uncomfortably. It will put you in such a major inconvenience.

Garlic

Foods containing too much garlic can cause you inconvenience during a flight as well. Garlic do smell and it lingers in your mouth. Having bad breath throughout the flight sounds terrible. Not to mention that garlic can cause strong body odor due to its sulfuric compounds. Your lungs and bloodstream will absorb those compound, making you suffer from your own smelly breath and body odor. Other passengers may suffer as well being next to you. 

Junk food

Fast foods are also better to avoid before boarding. They look so tempting at the airport due to its greasy appearance and good smell. However, those foods are harder to digest especially when you are at 35,000 feet above. Fast foods contain saturated fats which make your digestive system work harder. Those can constrict your blood flow, cause heartburn, or upset stomach during a flight.
